In 2020, Lorraine Forbes on behalf of The Sophia Foundation became a founding patron of the iBodhi Trust.
The iBhodi Trust is a social impact endeavour which aims to craft and demonstrate a blueprint which enables future-fit post-primary education at scale to drive socioeconomic mobility throughout South Africa. Their core aim is to develop and demonstrate a new model of education, which leverages pedagogical reconfiguration, and the effective, intentional use of key learning technologies to deliver world-class education at the same cost per learner as the SA government at large spends per learner, per year. A group of 27 grade 9 learners are completing their high school education using iBhodi’s digital-first blended learning model. Based at Beacon Hill High School in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town, they make up iBhodi Trust’s first cohort.
