Arts and Culture as a means of Inner Transformation
The Arts and Culture Pillar will not stand alone but will serve as a means of inner transformation to augment the other pillars. Art and Culture, be it in the form of poetry, dance, music, storytelling, dreaming, theatre, ritual or painting is one of the ways of accessing the deeper aspects of ourselves, of sense-making in establishing meaningful and emotional connections between individuals and nature, and of connecting with our cultural heritage. Integrating creative pursuits into the Inner-Development/Inner-Leadership and Self-Knowledge Pillar provides countless opportunities for personal growth, where images reveal unconscious aspects of our inner world, and art is facilitated as a production of human imagination and not a mirror image of the outer world. Using art forms to enhance the impact of the Stewardship of Natural Resources and the Environment and Animal Anti-Cruelty, Welfare and Wellbeing pillars can increase understanding, introduce new perspectives and create a dialogue among diverse people to foster a greater emotional connection to Nature. Any ad-hoc facilitators for Arts and Culture must embrace and adhere to the Vision, Mission and Ethos of the Foundation.
“What is essential in a work of art is that is should rise far above the realm of personal life and speak from the spirit and heart of the poet as man to the spirit and heart of mankind.” - C.G. Jung
